An autistic woman has been winning at mental health ever since she read a science fiction novella about an order of Roman Catholic nuns being very gay on a spaceship, reports have confirmed.
Miya Wilkes, 30, read Sisters of the Vast Black by Lina Rather in one sitting, pausing only to masturbate and fetch more snacks. The novella takes place aboard a ship named Our Lady of Impossible Constellations, which is also a sort of giant spacefaring slug creature, because of course it is.
“It’s surprisingly horny for a book about a bunch of women living on a big slug,” mused Wilkes. “But I think the perfect story has now been written and no more fiction is required.”
“Since I finished reading, I’ve come off antidepressants and my therapist says I’m so well-adjusted she’s asked me to become her therapist. I told her to put down The Body Keeps the Score and read more gay sci-fi.”
Wilkes’ therapist was approached for comment but, at the time of reporting, she is immersed in her reading and will only be pausing to masturbate and fetch more snacks.
