An autistic woman who thought becoming self-employed would mean being her own boss has discovered that she actually now works for a small feline tyrant, it has been confirmed.

Beth Hapworth, 32, who made the move from from being a full-time corporate copywriter to freelancing in order to regain her autonomy, has instead become a round-the-clock servant to seven-year-old tabby cat, Tilly.

Tilly explained: “Initially I was excited when Beth quit her job to focus solely on serving me – but if I’m honest, she’s proved a disappointing employee.”

“Yes, she feeds and pets me in the morning,” Tilly continued. “But then her work ethic seems to slip as the day wears on. All she does is sit in front of this large glowy thing, drumming her hands on what looks like a strange uneven food mat, instead of using said hands to give me scritchies.”

“I’ve tried everything I can to gently correct her,” added Tilly. “From sitting on her hands to disciplining her with verbal warnings and the occasional bite – but so far she shows no signs of improvement.”

Hapworth commented: “Tilly, sweetheart, don’t make me put you in time out.”

Tilly responded: “I’ll put YOU in time out.”
