An AuDHD woman believes she has finally found the right opening to join a group conversation, according to sources.
Sarah Harrow, 24, has been awkwardly skirting the fringes of a lively group chatting at a party, but has just lined up a pithy reply to someone’s comment – and oh no it’s gone again.
Harrow said: “People think I’m really quiet but I just don’t know when to cut in. The gaps between people speaking feel tiny to me, and by the time I’ve clocked them someone else usually steps in, and then the conversation moves on. So everyone just thinks I’ve got a habit of opening and closing my mouth.”
“So what I’m going to do is hyperfocus on what’s being said, at the cost of properly listening, so I can finally speak – here we go!”
Harrow then chimed in with her witty observation a millisecond after someone else had started speaking, which made her look like a twat.
