A woman promoting her Edinburgh Fringe show is working hard to conceal the big twist, starting with taking out an ad in The Daily Tism.

In Giraffe, actor and writer Abigail Weinstock plays Eliana, a young woman who has always felt different for reasons she cannot explain. Eliana believes she is a sociopath, because what else could she possibly be? Weinstock agrees, which is why she turned to an autism news website to spread the word about her show.

Weinstock, who has also starred in every Daily Tism production to date, for some reason, said: “Giraffe follows Eliana as she tries to prove she’s normal and definitely not a sociopath as well as DEFINITELY not anything else. She’s gone her whole life thinking something is wrong with her, only to discover that she’s actually… Well, you’ll just have to come along and find out. You’ll never guess what the twist is.”

“Please ignore the section of the show description that talks about masking and misdiagnosis. That’s… I didn’t tell them to say that. They came up with those words on their own. And it’s accurate, but… Don’t read into it or anything, alright?”

Giraffe, written and performed by Abigail Weinstock, directed by Emma Jude Harris and produced by The Project People, runs at the Pleasance Courtyard from the 7th – 31st August 2026 (not including 15th and 25th) as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with previews on the 5th and 6th of August.
