A new website has launched allowing people who like to collect dead relatives to trace the autism running through their family tree, according to a recent press release.

After logging on to YeOldeAutisme.com, users are presented with a digital portfolio of letters, newspaper clippings, census returns, and other records, indicating which of their ancestors may have had a touch of the ‘tism. So far, reviews have been favourable, with visitors claiming they have never been more excited to read an obituary.

“It turns out that my great-great-grandfather had a passion for anthropomorphic taxidermy and refused to ever take off his top hat,” said Alix Gardner, 29. “This puts a lot of things about me into context.”

“My great-great-uncle built a labyrinth of underground tunnels beneath his house and lived down there for thirty years,” added Ellie Mulligan, 41. “I know that retrospective diagnosis is problematic, but that doesn’t sound particularly neurotypical to me.”

“I remember my grandma refused to have a phone in the house because she said that if she did, people would phone her,” Mulligan continued. “She got a dog purely for it to chase the postman away.”

“It’s such a coincidence, isn’t it? Almost as if autism were genetic and not caused by normal vaccines that everyone gets, or normal medicine that everyone takes.”
