An autistic woman has experienced the abject horror of having to eat lunch out of a container other than a pleasingly shallow pasta bowl, it has been reported.

Abeer Zaki, 40, thought all her friends were on the same page as her, but after a lunch where she was forced to eat from a large, flat plate, she is beginning to wonder whether she can trust anyone anymore.

The plate in question, a sensible, plain white dinner plate, is reportedly the sort people buy if they regularly sit at the dinner table to eat and enjoy entertaining guests, two things which Zaki does not believe people do in real life.

Zaki said: “I’ve been forced to confront the reality that people have different crockery for different meals, instead of one favourite bowl that makes every dining experience feel like my mum really did love me in the end.”

Friend Paul Shinter, 41, said he was determined to go all out for Zaki’s visit. “I’ve also got us forks, knives and spoons for the spaghetti, so that we can eat it in the most convoluted way possible.”
