An AuDHD film fanatic has “basically got the gist” of most of the films they’ve listed on their Letterboxd account, sources have claimed.

Des Ackerman, 45, who considers cinema a special interest, can reportedly sort-of kind-of talk knowledgeably about the difference between Criterion and Masters of Cinema releases and is a particular fan of the works of Orson Welles, whose classic masterworks they have often nearly paid attention to.

Ackerman explained: “Touch of Evil is my particular favourite. The re-edited version to conform with Welles’ vision, not the edit they released originally which, as I gleaned from the 30 minutes I managed to focus on, they butchered.”

“That 15-minute long tracking shot at the beginning is my favourite five minutes in cinema history,” Ackerman continued. “I glaze over for a bit after that, but I’m always drawn back in for: ‘He was some kind of a man, what does it matter what you say about people?’ – what a line! And I assume there are also some good bits in the intervening 96 minutes.”

“I also love Citizen Kane, particularly the way you never, as far as I am aware, find out what Rosebud actually is. But I don’t just love black-and-white classics. I have watched the first half-hour of each of the Lord of the Rings films several times. I thought I’d seen the end of all of them, too, but it turns out I’d only seen the three endings of the last one.”

Ackerman could not be reached for further comment as they were watching through the special features on their new six-disc box set of The Curse of Frankenstein, a film they have now bought three times on increasingly expensive media. When asked their opinion on Christopher Lee’s portrayal of the Monster, they muttered something about “spoilers” and went back to texting 15 different people at once.
