An autistic woman who told an off-colour joke at a family dinner has belatedly realised her relatives were entirely the wrong crowd, it has been reported.

Mandeep Kaur, 29, reportedly made a quip about her own singledom, saying: “At this point, I don’t care whether I get a date or I’m assassinated via sniper, just so long as someone takes me out”.

Kaur reportedly realised a moment later that only people who grew up in a certain generation will accept glib remarks about one’s own death as humour, and that all she had achieved was horrifying a dining room full of pensioners.

Kaur said: “If I’d posted that online, there’d be loads of comments with people saying ‘Same’ and ‘So true bestie!’. What I actually got was dead silence, and then my grandma starting to pray for me.”

“My mum pulled me aside to ask if I needed to ‘speak to that nice CBT woman’ again, and my aunt started telling me about all the women who’ve actually been shot by actual snipers. I’ve either ruined the entire evening, united everyone against me, or both.”

Kaur tried to rescue the situation by joking that she didn’t need a sniper because she “sure [was] dying out here”, which made her father’s eyes fill with tears.
