An Instagram account run by an animal rescue centre has been credited with an autistic woman’s sole happiness on this Earth and also blamed for her enduring misery, according to sources.

The rescue centre, which takes in cats, dogs and other assorted Little Guys, regularly shares pictures of its animals before and after they have been admitted to the centre, reportedly causing Pippa Durham, 30, to swing wildly between heartbreak, cuteness aggression and a driving maternal instinct she has never felt for a human infant.

Durham said: “Last week, Sausage the dachshund came in with his little paw all bandaged up. There was a video of him looking all sad and cuddling his little tattered teddy bear. I would have gone to prison avenging him.”

“Then I found out that Sausage had found his forever home, and – get this – the family already have a cat named Roll, and the two of them are now best friends! I cried so hard I busted some capillaries. Did I mention that the cat was CHUNKY and making BISCUITS?”

The rescue’s social media manager commented: “Oh, I know what I’m doing.”
