An autistic woman narrowly avoided being initiated into a weird-ass cult, but only realised that was what had been happening 12 years later after seeing them on the actual news, it has been reported.
Paige Thomas, 33, first met the incredibly welcoming group, who all wore matching hats, while helping them to renovate a castle for what they normally insisted were non-nefarious reasons back in 2014. But somehow Thomas didn’t quite pick up on their frankly wacko vibe at the time.
Thomas said: “They were very generous, they would invite me to their classes every day, I never went because I tend to be asleep at 4am so I guess I’ll never know what was at the end of the cosmic self-love bridge.”
“That barbecue I missed sure smelled interesting though! On an unrelated note, I wonder what happened to Steve.”
The realisation finally came when Thomas was watching the news, and the name popped up of the extremely nice people who just really liked chanting in a slightly ominous fashion.
“I’d always wondered what happened to them! It looked like they were in a fair bit of trouble, so I hopped online to see if they needed any more help with DIY at Definitely Not a Cult That Barbecues Humans For The Space God Zantor HQ.”
Thomas was unable to get in touch, however, as all evidence of the band of exceedingly amiable folks who were just wondering how much you really like your family anyway, had been scrubbed from the Internet.
