A recently uncovered image previously believed to have been taken in 1863 was actually captured at a British primary-school disco in 2003, experts have announced.

The image, initially thought to be of a sickly Victorian child, actually depicts then-seven-year-old autistic girl Freya Emerson, reportedly looking unenthused as her classmates took to the floor for The Macarena

Historian Robert Noot, 58, commented: “We thought this must have been taken in the 17th century, as you can see the peacock feather and a frilly floor-length gown. What you can’t see are the children just out of shot, in diamanté jeans and T-shirts, looking completely baffled.”

“Judging by her grave expression, we believe the Fast Food Song may well have just finished just moments prior.”

Emerson, now 29, said: “I’d have rather been in bed with scarlet fever.”
