An autistic woman reportedly really enjoying life at the moment is nonetheless growing increasingly suspicious that nothing glaringly bad has happened in a while.

Liz McHodge, 68, says she “cannot complain” about the current state of her life, but having nothing to complain about is reportedly filling her with dread for whatever terrible thing must be on the horizon.

McHodge said: “I keep trying to anticipate what’s going to go wrong. I can’t be dumped because I’m single, I can’t lose my job because I’m retired, and I know for a fact my friends won’t desert me because none of them can be bothered to make new ones.”

“I should feel reassured, but I don’t know who I am without hardship. What am I supposed to do with all this will to live?”

The other shoe said: “Oh, I’m coming, Liz. I’m just taking a really long run-up.”
