An autistic woman who likes to think of herself as “quite zen” regularly sits like a praying mantis, according to sources.

Beth Hapworth, 28, from Northwich, is reportedly incapable of putting her feet on the floor or her arms by her sides at any given time, instead preferring to perch like an insect.

Despite her yoga teacher advising that it might be beneficial for her health to relax her posture once in a while, Hapworth determinedly remains in position, ready to fend off predators.

Yoga instructor Krista Shure, 33, said: “It’s hard to believe Beth when she insists she’s in a calm mental space. It doesn’t help that her eyes consistently bulge with terror.”

Friend Olivia Buckingham, 32, observed: “Even when she’s supposedly relaxing, she always looks prepared. For what, we’re not entirely sure.”
