An autistic man’s Halloween movie night has been ruined after he accidentally put on an Autism Speaks commercial from 2009.

Mac Wheatley, 32, showed the commercial to his group of close friends after mistaking the threatening music and ominous voiceover for a low-budget horror.

Wheatley explained: “I thought a horror movie about autism was a cool idea but it turns out ‘I am Autism’ is an actual ad from one of the world’s leading autism charities.”

He continued: “Around the time the ad started claiming autism derives great pleasure out of your loneliness, my friends started edging away from me on the sofa.”

Friend Noah Michaels, 29, commented: “That was fucking terrifying. Let’s calm ourselves down with The Exorcist.”
