The dark corner of your flat where you curl up and hide in the evening is once again looking forward to sheltering you from the bright and terrible complexities of the world, it has been reported.
The Dark Cosy Nook, two, which started its life as a barely regarded corner of your living room, previously stored a knackered old lamp, a discarded sock, and a staggering collection of dust. Now, thanks to your careful cultivation, and frequent trips to Dunelm, it has transformed into an elite blanket fort: a cocoon of safety that accepts your muffled screaming with equanimity.
“This is my favourite part of the day,” the DCN told us. “My blankets are arranged, the teddy bears are ready, and there’s pillows and earplugs for whatever they need. I’m a nap corner, a chillout zone, an escape from the world. And unlike their bed, I’ll let you eat snacks in here.”
In another area of the house, the Big Light, six, was keen to put on the record that she is actually not jealous at all. “I haven’t been used for three years at the last count, but that’s fine! The less they use me, the longer I’ll last! So actually I’m kind of delighted that they huddle in their sad blanket cave like a worm, because that means I’ll live forever! Ha!”
The DCN added: “I just can’t wait to envelop them in darkness and wrap them in my pillowy caress. Wait, is that weird?”
