An autistic man’s groomsmen have reportedly begged him to stop calling them ‘the Fellowship of the Ring’ amid concerns they will be forced to LARP against their will.

When Robert Noot, 38, first named his wedding WhatsApp chat after the famous adventuring party from The Lord of the Rings, his groomsmen found the reference endearing, but they began to grow concerned after Noot refused to let the fantasy theme drop throughout the wedding planning process. Now, they fear that Noot’s wedding may become little more than a fan convention none of them particularly want to attend.

Noot’s future brother-in-law Miguel Garcia, 39, said: “Rob’s a big Lord of the Rings fan, which is great, but I really hope we don’t have to do anything… hobbit-y for the wedding. That said, he did suggest gluing hair to our feet before the drinks reception. ‘Just a little bit’, he said. ‘Just to put the guests in mind of Middle Earth’. I was quick to shoot that idea down, but not before he accused me of being ‘such a Saruman’.”

“He went to pick up the rings the other day – just guess what he did at the jeweller’s. Let’s just say Andy Serkis doesn’t need to worry about being out of a job any time soon.”

Noot commented: “Miguel’s just upset I didn’t make him Aragorn.”
