An autistic woman coped with the woes of growing up by escaping into the woes of other children, it has been revealed.
Sarah Harrow, 29, from Merseyside, adored Wilson’s children’s books from a young age. She confessed: “I read them for the reason people listen to true crime podcasts. For the fucking drama.”
“I was having a terrible time as a child, but I loved listening to other kids have a terrible time for different reasons. It made me wish my mother was fucked up with cool tattoos – instead of just regular fucked up.”
“Admittedly, my tastes were pretty narrow,” she added. “I refused to read The Famous Five, for instance – because the parents weren’t splitting up.”
