An autistic woman has expressed relief at discovering that her dentist does not have powers of arrest, despite the tone of his reminder messages.

Freya Emerson, 42, described a sense of panic upon receiving several ominous communications from dentist Robert Noot, 55, alerting her that her checkup was “overdue”. But her unease dissipated when she was told that Noot cannot, in fact, forcibly detain her.

“He sent so many messages, and by so many different mediums – text, email, post – that I thought he was about to show up with a warrant,” Emerson explained. “But after a nice chat with his receptionist, I’ve been reassured that he can’t actually cuff me.”

Noot said: “I can’t MAKE you come for your checkup, but you really sh-“ before he was cut off by Emerson hanging up on him.

Emerson was last seen Googling “why do my teeth hurt?”
