An autistic expert in co-occurring conditions has recommended undiagnosed ADHD as the ideal gourmet pairing for a diagnosis of depression, it has been reported.
Comorbidity sommelier Sabheen Bhatt, 30, recommends the ADHD you’re pretty sure you have as an accompaniment to the depression you absolutely have, explaining that the extra neurodivergence enhances the depressive flavour of feeling totally ill-equipped for life on Earth.
Bhatt commented: “Depression is enough to make you feel like a fuck-up, but living with untreated ADHD basically guarantees you will have struggled sufficiently to make that belief feel absolutely legitimate. Think of it like steaming fish in a bag to seal in the flavour.”
“Autism, ADHD and depression combine in a wild melange of tastes that never truly settle on the tongue. Overwhelmed and understimulated, restless and exhausted. Imagine wet cardboard dipped in hot sauce, and you’ll be close.”
“Late diagnosis functions as a fermentation process, but I’d say these things age more like cheese than wine.”
