An autistic woman who was reluctantly dragged to a bar by a group of friends has insisted she had a really good time, sources have revealed.

Emma Bernard, 27, from Netherton, described haunting waves of loneliness washing over her as the night progressed – which she could only assume was part of the experience.

Bernard told us: “It’s great hearing snippets of 11 different conversations overlapping each other, instead of just one! I love just guessing what lips might be saying, tossing in a fake laugh or ‘yeah, definitely’ when the moment feels right.”

“Emma’s really pushing herself out of her comfort zone by nearing a visible meltdown in public,” friend Becky Armitage, 28, commented.

Armitage added: “I really think it’s doing her good.”
