An autistic woman being excessively supervised at work has understood the situation somewhat differently, it has been reported.
Paige Thomas, 25, from Wigan, was thrilled when her boss started scheduling regular “catch-ups”, interpreting it as a sign they were “really hitting it off as mates.”
“Every morning she calls me into her office, sits me down and goes, ‘we need to have a chat’. So we do,” Thomas told us. “Tricia knows everything about my life – my cat, my weird childhood, my mother wound. I’d love for us to go shopping together.”
Manager Tricia Squire, 40, was reportedly horrified at the idea.
“She’s missed every deadline I’ve set. And she stares at the phone when it rings, rather than answering it,” Squire explained. “Paige doesn’t seem to realise that she’s actually one step away from a disciplinary.”
“I think we’ve really clicked,” Thomas said. “Maybe I should add her on Facebook?”
