An autistic woman who has been left at the altar at her wedding is quietly relieved to have the time back, according to witnesses.
Talia Cohen, 34, was jilted by her husband-to-be Gavin Monks, 34, after he revealed he had been having second thoughts. Cohen has reportedly taken the news remarkably well, and is currently waiting for a cab to collect her from the venue so she can race home and have a nap.
Cohen said: “The itinerary was looking pretty full, to be fair. I’d have had to hang around the venue until about 11pm, which is usually the time I become a depleted husk of a woman. So this has worked out perfectly.”
“Now, I don’t have to spend hours trying to look demure in photos, or endure my family’s veiled potshots at me during the speeches,” Cohen continued. “Or receive ‘advice’ from people whose marriages I’d consider a cautionary tale.”
“It hurts to be rejected after a fruitful five-year relationship, but the thought of being in my pyjamas by 3pm considerably softens the blow.”
