An autistic woman frequently mistaken for a manic pixie dream girl is actually more of a manic pixie cold-hard-dose-of-reality girl, it has been confirmed.
Beth Hapworth, 26, who is often confused by straight men for the whimsical nymph of their male-gazey fantasies, will, in fact, bluntly cause them to confront their sad, grey little lives.
Ex-boyfriend Cameron Brereton, 27, commented: “Beth was meant to be a Tinkerbell-like spirit guide, transforming me into the man I always knew I was supposed to be, but could never be arsed to become.”
But Brereton was left in shock when Hapworth failed to simply wear a quirky-patterned tea dress and hold his hand encouragingly while he screamed into an empty canyon – instead becoming what Brereton described as “entitled and controlling”.
“Beth’s demands were borderline abusive,” said Brereton. “She kept on at me for the stupidest things. If I wanted to brush my teeth, I’d brush my teeth.”
“At first, she didn’t seem like the type to criticise,” Brereton added. “But the second the mask drops it’s all ‘Cameron, please stop picking your nose and wiping it on my sofa.”
Hapworth could not be reached for a response to Brereton, as she had inexplicably blocked him.
