An autistic man attempting to slip a sneaky little brag into an otherwise self-deprecating statement has completely fucked it, it has been confirmed.
Gavin Monks, 45, reportedly intended to do a thing he’d read about called “humblebragging”, but instead skipped straight to the bragging bit.
An online acquaintance, Emma Bernard, 38, commented: “Typically a humblebrag will be like ‘I can’t believe I got my dream job – little old me! How lucky am I??’. What Gavin posted was… not that.”
In a Bluesky post released today, Monks said: “I can’t believe I got my dream job – which I worked really hard and am also completely qualified for. Overqualified, if anything. But still, how lucky am I??”
“It was close enough,” Monks told us. “I remembered to say I was lucky, even though luck had nothing to do with how amazing at coding I am. I mean… er… how lucky am I??”
“I’m also really good at sex,” Monks added. “How lucky am I??”
