An audience comprised predominantly of autistic people have been left “unsure of what the fuck to wear” to the virtual world premiere of a new audio sitcom, it has been announced.
The invitation to the live launch of The Daily Tism’s new show by and for autistic people, It’s a Superpower?? instructed guests that the dress code would be “autistic red carpet”, a brief showrunner Sara Gibbs, 38, unhelpfully insisted was “open to interpretation just like the Met Gala if none of them had any money”.
The Daily Tism reader Luca Mignon, 45, commented: “I think they mean for us to show up wearing actual red carpets – but surely it’ll be embarrassing if we all do that? Is it still a faux-pas if those were our literal instructions?”
Fellow fan Aidan Michaels, 27, agreed: “I really want to get excited about the show, which I’ve heard is the first ever sitcom by and for autistic people, contains actual magic and has some confusingly grandiose celebrity cameos – but I’m too busy staring at my three identical t-shirts in despair. I guess whichever one has fewest holes?”
Gibbs explained: “It’s a chance for you to dress up in whatever way makes you happiest,” a clarification that reportedly did nothing to make anything clearer other than Gibbs’ delusion.
Mignon responded: “I’m going to roll around in dust and cat hair and stick a hoover on my head.”
We made an audio sitcom! It’s a Superpower?? is a comedy by and for autistic people (poor things) following the adventures of an autism support group who accidentally acquire (useless) magic powers and are tasked with saving the world from a very neurotypical apocalypse.

The show was created by Sara Gibbs and Andrew Hickey of A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs, written by The Daily Tism co-editor, Sara Gibbs, produced by Gibbs with Hare Lockwood and directed by Gibbs with Sarah Amero.
