A couple are becoming increasingly unhinged in the language that they use to describe their daughter, who is obviously autistic but must never, ever, ever be named as such, according to sources.

Becky and Lloyd Didcot, 39 and 41, feel that an autism diagnosis carries too much stigma, so they prefer to talk about daughter Avery, 10, as if she’s batshit crazy instead.

Having exhausted the use of words such as “highly strung” and “oversensitive”, the Didcots were forced to get poetic and claim that Avery “dances to the beat of a different drum”.

“Unfortunately, she takes everything literally, for some mysterious reason that no one could possibly fathom,” said Lloyd Didcot. “She protests that she doesn’t dance, and if she did, it wouldn’t be to accompany a percussion solo.”

“She’ll be bullied at school if the other children think she’s autistic,” continued Becky Didcot. “That’s why we say that she’s ‘touched by the fairies’.”

The fairies deny any allegations of involvement in Avery Didcot’s autism.
