An autistic woman who thought she was sitting down for a long-overdue viewing of the 1976 adaptation of Carrie – or at the very least, the 2013 version – has reportedly been left traumatised after accidentally watching “chilling” horror movie, Sex and the City 2.
The misunderstanding occurred when Olivia Buckingham, 27, heard friend Becky Armitage, 30, describe herself as “such a Carrie”, prompting Buckingham to explain that she had never seen the movie.
Buckingham said: “Sex and The City 2 is a terrifying tale of an evil villain named Carrie who keeps trying to make her husband go outside and do stuff when he just wants to watch TV in peace.”
“In search of something truly petrifying called ‘adventure’, Carrie flees to Abu Dhabi, where she and her coven of witches antagonise the locals, play white saviour and drape themselves in the horrifying trappings of late-stage capitalism.”
“Carrie is truly the scariest horror-movie monster I’ve ever seen,” Buckingham added. “I kept waiting in vain for someone to douse her in blood.”
Armitage commented: “In hindsight, I should have showed her the original series, or at least the first movie. My bad.”
Buckingham added: “I’ve since watched Carrie and, let me tell you, it was a light-hearted romp by comparison.”
