An autistic woman has branded neurotypical Pancake Day celebrations “a pathetic effort,” in an exclusive interview.

Megan Aldrich, 29, is so dedicated to Shrove Tuesday that she also celebrates Shrove Monday, Shrove Wednesday, Shrove Thursday, Shrove Friday and Shrove Saturday, year-round, without a break.

“Technically I take Sunday off,” Aldrich told us. “That’s when God made waffles.”

“I wouldn’t say it’s a problem,” Aldrich continued, turning on the hob. “It’s not like I have the same thing every day. Do you fancy American style, or crepe?”

“I don’t join in with mainstream Pancake Day celebrations,” Aldrich explained, expertly flipping a chocolate chip pancake. “And I don’t agree with pancake races. A cruel and vicious sport.”

Aldrich was last seen disrupting a Pancake Day cook-off by rescuing all the rejected pancakes, adding: “Pancakes are for life, not just for Pancake Day.”
