An autistic woman has found a non-autistic colleague’s lack of interest in something they claimed to enjoy immensely troubling, sources have confirmed.
When Emma Bernard, 31, learned her co-worker Miya Wilkes, 34, liked British sitcom The Royle Family, she couldn’t wait to re-enact every scene from the classic show. Yet Bernard was struck by a devastating realisation – that Wilkes simply saw the series once and “quite enjoyed it”.
“I was completely confused. Don’t you want to, like, dissect it together?” Bernard said. “Which series spoke to you the most? Who’s your favourite character? Which episodes did you watch on loop, over and over? I’m just devastated for Miya. It must be really hard having a brain like that.”
Bernard could not be reached for further comment as Wilkes had told her “I also liked Ghosts,” prompting Bernard to have a nervous breakdown.
