An autistic woman’s undiagnosed parents have really been smashing the internalised-ableism-fuelled microaggressions lately, sources have said.

Mary Moorton, 60, has reportedly been incredible at asking 30-year-old daughter Siobhan whether she’ll be able to cope “with the big wide world” even though she can’t touch dirty dishes without gagging, while Gavin Moorton, 62, is ready to go pro at asking why therapy isn’t working for her despite being the main reason she’s still going.

Siobhan Moorton said: “Mum has reached a new level of denial about my autism, probably because she’d have to confront the fact she’s probably autistic too. She insists on calling it ‘my little problem’, which is also how she refers to credit card debt, the menopause, and the looming threat of nuclear annihilation.”

“And Dad’s been amazing lately. Not at supporting me, but at telling me about his friends’ autistic kids, who ‘have it more severely’ than me.”

Mary Moorton said: “Oh, love, you’re so kind to call us ‘exceptional’!”
