An autistic woman born in 1975 has been diagnosed with the rare comborbid condition of being invisible three times over, it has been reported.
Paula Mulberry, 49, used to be a fully corporeal human being, but since turning 40 has slowly lost her opacity bit by bit, eventually becoming completely transluscent – at least, she assumes that’s what must have happened.
Mulberry commented: “Hello?? I’m right here – can anybody hear me? HELLO?”
“At first it was nice to not be perceived,” Mulberry muttered to herself. “No more creepy men telling me to smile more. But then it started to get annoying. I’ve been stuck at the same table at Pizza Express trying to get a waiter’s attention for the last three years. I’m so hungry.”
“I thought I might finally be represented when I found a news site just for autistic people,” Mulberry continued. “But my excitement turned to disappointment as all the stories featured the same woman named Paige Thomas, whose age seemed to vary between 23 and 39.”
Mulberry could not be reached for further comment, as nobody could see or hear her.
