An autistic woman’s one-step skincare routine is reportedly better than a no-step skincare routine – probably.
37-year-old Emma Bernard used to make the effort to cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day – but then they changed what you’re supposed to do to include all sorts of confusing serums and milky crap – and also she’s very, very tired.
Bernard commented: “By the time I crawl into bed at night, the last thing I have energy for is an elaborate routine with expensive products and three different types of sensory ick.”
“My skincare routine is ‘grope around the side of my bed for the nearest thing that vaguely resembles a moisturiser and halfheartedly smear some on.”
“Unless ruminating over the days anxieties counts as a skincare step?” Bernard continued. “In which case, I’ve got the routine down pat.”
Bernard could not be reached for further comment, as she was busy washing the fungal foot cream she keeps by her bed off her face.
