An autistic woman has received an influx of Mother’s Day cards from every ex who treated her like a surrogate mother, according to sources.
Siobhan Moorton, 36, has never had a child of her own – yet has helped to raise numerous adult children who have latched onto her over the years. This year, her ex-partners have not only worked out how to go to the shop and buy a card using their own money, but have also learned to show basic gratitude (two things they were previously unable to do).
Moorton said: “Really, there’s nothing to thank me for. I only wasted years of my life teaching grown adults how to use a washing machine, and then giving up and doing the washing myself after they complained about how scary and confusing it all was for them. Poor loves.”
One card from Lloyd Thomas, 34, reads: “Dear Siobhan, thank you for taking me to Legoland and carrying all my things in your bag and buying me an ice cream when I got upset with you.”
Jack Harrington, 40, wrote: “I’ll never forget when you gave up a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity after I threatened to break up with you over it. Best Mummy ever!”
Eddie Albington, 39, decided to forgo writing anything in favour of drawing two stick people arguing at a garden centre.
