An auDHD woman is being tortured by the tell-tale sound of her countless unread notifications pinging underneath the floorboards, it has been reported.

Navya Randhawa, 30, knows her emails, texts and direct messages have been piling up for weeks, but anxiety and distraction have conspired to stop her from answering them as they come in. Although she has now stowed her phone under a loose plank in the floor, she can hear every message coming through as a testament to her shame.

Randhawa said: “It started with a few texts from family and friends – a former colleague reaching out to see how I’m doing, my aunt asking if I’d like her old record player – and then it became unbearable. The unthinkable happened… I was added to a group chat.”

“An old friend of mine, Yuichi Suzuki, invited about thirty of us to a barbecue at his house and asked us to RSVP with an emoji that represents our heart’s greatest yearning,” she continued. “He’s also asked us to let him know if we plan to dance, because he’s set up a booking system where we can book a slot on his rented dancefloor.”

“Oh, and we’ve each got to bring a dish that represents our favourite childhood arcade game, but it’s got to be suitable for consumption in a hot tub.”

“I was clearly the only one who was absolutely blindsided by how batshit that all was,” Randhawa added. “Because that chat blew up with in-jokes, memes and other inane banter. Any rational person would have done what I did. I shoved that phone under the floorboards to try and choke the endless onslaught of “Is anyone else doing Tetris?” but I can still. Bloody. Hear it.”

Randhawa later retrieved her phone so she could message Suzuki privately with the words “nemo me impune lacessit”, followed by a crude emoji representation of a woman sealing her overzealous friend behind a wall.
