An autistic woman is reportedly in despair after failing to pronounce a word correctly when saying it aloud for the first time – despite having read it over and over in various books multiples times, a LOT.
Miya Wilkes, 29, from Tuebook, only realised “polemic” wasn’t pronounced like “bulimic” after uttering the word during a Zoom meeting in front of her entire team of colleagues.
“This is worse than the time I learned “ethereal” wasn’t pronounced like “Ethel” with a R in it,” Wilkes told us. “Mortifying. Hardly the pinnacle of my career.”
“Hey, did you just pronounce pinnacle as “pineaccle”? Like pineapple?” Colleague Gavin Monks, 39, asked. “That’s so funny!”
Wilkes couldn’t be contacted for further comment, as she had just resolved to never speak publicly again.
