An autistic girl has raised concerns about the validity of her parents “kissing her boo-boos” as a form of first-aid, it has been rumoured.
Seven-year-old Mary Walker has scoured scientific journals but has yet to find any peer-reviewed evidence that kissing minor injuries makes them “all better”.
Walker said: “I scraped my knee on Friday. Mum said she was kissing it better, but it still hurt like a bitch. Frankly, I’m starting to think it’s no better than placebo.”
“If there was anything to it, Mum wouldn’t have then applied antiseptic ointment and a plaster,” Walker continued. “But if it irrationally makes HER feel better, I won’t disillusion her.”
Walker added: “I’m itching to point out that in her entire 37 years on this planet, she’s never once seen a doctor do it. But whatever she needs to believe.”
