An autistic person has managed to keep a Christmas sweater on their body for record-breaking time of 8.2 minutes – or 492 seconds – according to reports.
Jay Maw, 33, from Carlisle, has beaten the previous record of Robert Noot, 42, who wore his cashmere crew neck for a little over seven-and-a-half minutes during a festive bring-and-share, before murdering his entire office team.
“Despite arriving downstairs in a jumper that said Merry and Bright, Jay looked anything but,” partner Sabeen Bhatt, 30, told us. “Though I was more concerned when they started ripping it off with their teeth, like a cat wearing a collar.”
Maw stated: “I wasn’t sure whether to throw myself in the deep end with a turtleneck, but I think that might have been a step too far. Maybe next year.”
Four autistic people were in attendance to verify the record, before promptly asking to leave and returning to their own homes.
All the while, Maw could be heard screaming: “Get it off! Get it off of me!”
