Join The Daily Tism writers Sara Gibbs, Elsa Williams and Sarah Amero as they wax lyrical about getting make-up advice from child beauty pageants, the worst Chappell Roan song to play at a funeral and whether your Christian primary school was actually a cult.

Autistic Women Oversharing is the podcast where everything is autistic and nothing is off limits. It’ll make you laugh, cry and say “thank God I’ve got my headphones in”.

Season 1

Season 1, Episode 1 – Weird Celebrity Crushes

In this very first episode of Autistic Women Oversharing, we’re talking about past and present celebrity crushes. From sexual awakenings via the Cell Block Tango to beastly boyfriend material, we’ve got enough strange attractions to fill a theme park. Pack a change of underwear – you’re going to need it.

Season 1, Episode 2 – Childhood Special Interests

The Daily Tism writers are back for another overshare-a-thon! In our latest bid to get ourselves cancelled, we’re talking about our (deeply concerning) childhood special interests. Whether you spent your younger years dreaming of fame and fortune on the beauty pageant circuit, pondering deadly snake bites, or waiting for the Spice Girls to come and pick you up, you’re in good company.

Season 1, Episode 3 – Red Flags

From crying at the Colosseum to moonlighting as a cheese-slinging chatbot, it’s a wonder we all went undiagnosed for so long. In this week’s episode, recorded during one of our members-only live events, we talk about all the reasons we should have been identified sooner. And if you’re looking for something to drink while you listen, might we recommend a strawberry milkshake lovingly handmade (read: mashed) by a small child?

Season 1, Episode 4 – Norms

Today, we’re taking on all the social norms, cultural conventions and strange human rituals that we just can’t quite crack. In this week’s episode, Sara has a funerary Femininomenon, Sarah offers a scathing critique of the wedding industry, and Elsa educates her colleagues on the realities of childbirth. A very merry Special Day to all who celebrate!

Season 1, Episode 5 – Phobias

This week, we’re talking all about our worst fears. Expect country musicians, planes carried on the backs of angels, (bog) mummy issues, the prospect of going to Whitby, being bitten by Leslie Nielsen, and treacherous, treacherous mayonnaise.

Season 1, Episode 6 – Strongly Disagree Part 1

It’s a two-parter! This week, we’re taking the first half of the Autism Quotient test together — and, in true Daily Tism fashion, absolutely ripping it to shreds. Unlike a certain autism researcher, we’re asking all the right questions: What does it even mean to ‘slightly disagree’? Did a single autistic person consult on this thing? And what kind of degenerate has a birthday picnic?

Season 1, Episode 7 – Strongly Disagree Part 2

We’re finishing off the Autism Quotient this week and, spoiler alert, it doesn’t get much better in the second half. Hear us cope with being boring, friendless autistics by: trying not to give people the stink eye during Teams meetings (Elsa), trying to go five minutes without mentioning we went to drama school (Sarah), and writing a post-watershed body-horror sitcom called Yoga Fart (who else but Sara?). At the end, we reveal our scores and crown The Ultimate Autistic*.

*We don’t actually. Even if we believed such a thing existed, none of us think we’d qualify.

Season 1, Episode 8 – Not All Autistics

Elsa’s not here today! Left to improvise a co-host out of an octopus costume and a Cockney accent, Sara and Sarah get thoroughly weird about all the things they thought their autism would explain – but just turned out to be horrifying personal quirks. Learn how to lose friends and alienate people with tales of magical racist elves, cold baked beans and itchy teeth, and solve the locked room mystery of Andrew Hickey’s eggy trousers.

Season 1, Episode 9 – Oversharing

Buckle up, terrible autistics, it’s the season finale! Sara, Elsa and Sarah put on their Very Special Episode hats and ruminate on the concept of oversharing: what it feels like to spill our guts, how to stay well fed during an accidental orgy and what to do if your haemorrhoid becomes sentient (stay calm and open Snapchat).

Season 1 Bonus – Autistic Superpowers ft. Holly Smale

Welcome to another bodacious bonus episode of Autistic Women Oversharing! This week, we were joined by a very special guest in the form of Holly Smale – bestselling author, co-creator of the hit Netflix show Geek Girl and autistic superhero – to talk about our autistic superpowers.

The Cold [Bean] War is upon us yet again. Before we do battle with coughing husbands, disobedient planes, and the forces of gravity, we must assemble our autistic Avengers, a veritable Autistic-Sense-of-Justice League, to beat back the bad guys with the powers of cat-sniffing, dog-whispering, and hand-delivered post-breakup reports. So join us for the thrilling adventures of ‘Death-Girl’, ‘Crying Woman’ and ‘The Human Shazam’ – same Autism-Time (now), same Autism-Channel (Patreon)!

Season 2

Season 2, Episode 1 – School Reports ft. Laura Richmond

We’re baaaack! Did you miss us? (Let’s face it, if you’re neurodivergent, you probably forgot that we existed.)

We’re kicking off our second series with Laura Richmond, Daily Tism writer and author of All My Worldly Joy, with a special auditory show-and-tell in the form of our old school reports. Whether you were a ‘gifted and talented’ kid who made an attachment figure out of their English teacher, a chatty young contrarian who preferred the company of her imaginary ghost, or a prodigious yet deeply unpopular budding playwright, pull up a chair at our breakfast club for late-diagnosed burnouts. And, for God’s sake, finish your wooden egg.

Season 2, Episode 2 – Autism Nests

This week, we go full Goblin Mode and talk about our Autism Nest essentials – what, and who, we employ to help us recharge when life gets too much. How are two neurodivergent women supposed to stay on topic when there are Barbie eulogies, imaginary cabins and sloth bar mitzvahs to discuss? And are we at risk of becoming the Tyra Banks Hot Ice Cream podcast? Join us as we paint a thoroughly concerning portrait of the artists at home and allow Jason Momoa’s ironclad teeth to take up far too much airtime.

Season 2, Episode 3 – Past Jobs ft. Sarah Barnard

This week, we have the absolute privilege of being joined by polar artist and Daily Tism social media manager Sarah Barnard to talk about our past jobs. We could tell you what to expect, but this is probably our wildest episode yet, mostly thanks to our wonderful guest host and her incredibly eclectic CV. Let’s just say that this episode includes the question “What is the gestational period of a hamster?” and leave it at that. See you on the Bible Tennis courts!

Season 2, Episode 4 – Things We’ve Been Proven Wrong About ft. Hare Lockwood

This week, we’re joined by Hare Lockwood, comedian, Daily Tism writer and co-founder of Coherent Comedy, to discuss all the things we’re happy to have been proven wrong about. This one gets pretty deep, guys, but we promise it’s more uplifting than any Inspirational Autism Movie you’d find in the bowels of the Hallmark Channel.
In this episode: finding – and creating – a family, looking for love in all the wrong places, breaking into comedy as an autistic person, unlearning a whole heap of societal nonsense, and the shock of improving at things if you keep doing them. Oh, and Sara insisting she’s ancient again.

Season 2, Episode 5 – All About Amero ft. Charlie Merriman

Yes, yes, Valentine’s Day is a total cash-grab, but love is real! And we can prove it! In this Very Special Episode, actor, presenter and content creator Charlie Merriman bravely subjects himself to a thorough grilling from Sara about what his intentions are with her co-host. If you want inspiring insights from a mixed-neurotype relationship, there’s plenty of that. If you just want to hear about Austenesque first impressions, feeling like a prize heifer, shattering Sarah’s tough-girl image, and how to be irresistible to men via the medium of Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, there’s a healthy amount of that as well. Strap in, and let’s heap praise and affection on Sarah until all the comedy leaves her body!
